Persons with a disability have additional costs. Some measures help them to compensate for these extra costs and the loss of income.
Income replacement allowance
Some people do not earn enough due to their disability. The the income replacement allowance is for them. The amount varies depending on the family composition .

Integration allowance
If you lose your self-reliance due to a disability, you may have additional costs to adapt to social life. In that case you can receive an integration allowance. The amount varies depending on the degree of self-reliance and the financial situation .

Personal financing
Through personal financing (PVF), people with disabilities receive a budget from the Flemish government with which they can organize their own care.
The healthcare budget is a compensation from the Flemish government for people with a disability and a limited need for support. The Care Budget amounts to 300 euros per month and can be used for home help, guidance, day care or service vouchers.
CM-Zorgkas submits the payment order on the 24th of each month. Depending on your bank, the amount will be in your account after one or two working days.

Minors with a disability can request personal assistants to assist them. They must be registered via an employment contract or requested via an organized service.
The Intersectoral Gateway examines the application. A multidisciplinary team, such as the Social Work department , helps to motivate the application.

Adult persons with a disability who need intensive care can apply for a personal budget to organize their care and support.

Personal tax benefits
People with a disability or a dependent person with a disability can count on tax benefits such as extra tax-free amounts in various situations.

Healthcare budgets
Are you in need of assistance , 65 years or older and do you have a limited income ? Then you can apply for the care budget for elderly people with a care need . The amount depends on the care you need and your family income. You do not need to provide proof of expenditure . This way you choose which care and assistance you want to pay for.
Are you staying in a residential care center ? Then no medical assessment will be carried out. You will automatically be assigned a category 4 or 5 for the calculation of this healthcare budget. The amount depends on your family income.
Are you in serious need of care? Then you may be entitled to the healthcare budget for those in serious need of care. This amounts to 135 euros per month and can be spent on non-medical costs.
You are entitled to this budget if:
- you are a home care patient and are recognized as requiring serious care;
- you are staying in a residential care center;
- you have been admitted to a rest and care home (RVT) or psychiatric care home (PVT).
Your age doesn't matter. Even if you are younger than 26 years old and do not yet pay health insurance premiums, you are eligible for this health care budget. There is a separate scheme for people with a disability who have a personal budget.
