Power ladies at ICT
Especially for International Women's Day, we are putting four women from our ICT department in the spotlight. They will give a glimpse of the world of CM and share how valuable and diverse an IT job with us is. We give the floor to ...
Rebecca Debaillie, ICT Director
'I am responsible for the technical tools of, among other things, the contact center, the brand new website and the My CM app. As soon as there is a technical problem, colleagues can contact us. Together with 600 ICT professionals, we ensure that both internally and externally everything runs smoothly.' Rebecca has been working at CM for 28 years. 'That has flown by. Especially when you know that we realise many changes and developments within CM ICT in one year.'
'I am proud that we make a direct difference for our members. That we make life a little easier. Think of the My CM app or the website, where you can quickly and efficiently consult your payments or deliver a document. But we could digitize and automate even more', Rebecca believes. 'Our employees still have to process an abundance of documents and questions (semi-)manually too often. As a result, consultants and social workers have less time for people with a complex question. That is what Rebecca believes I set a big challenge for myself.'
Talk about a challenge. 'CM also works with a diverse group of 50,000 volunteers. I'm thinking of the volunteers from Kazou, Samana, CM Zorglijn ... there are quite a few. There is a nice mix of ages, with or without without digital skills. We are currently developing an app to make their work easier.'
'Within our IT department, we are also currently investigating how AI can support our developers. For example, we are thinking about finding bugs, generating, optimizing and documenting code.'
Did you know that ... CM receives approximately 24,000 phone calls and 98,000 emails in one week?
How can we automate and digitalize even more for our members and employees?

For someone who is eager to learn, this is the ideal environment
Ilse
Ilse Verschuren, Service Delivery Manager
'This just goes to show that our ICT department is very extensive and diverse. I work with internal clients including Finance and HR', Ilse explains. 'We build, maintain and upgrade applications that are important for CM employees. Such as a tool for (service) travel and time registration.'
'A Service Delivery Manager is a key figure in the ability to execute ICT services. In my role, I take on three important roles. To start with, I am a manager. Getting things done, and in the most efficient way. In addition, I am a leader, I think ahead. Together with our customers, I find out what will be needed in the future and translate that into a concrete roadmap or application. Finally, I also take on the role of coach. Our employees are our greatest asset. Giving them the space to grow and to give the best of themselves is crucial.'
What makes CM ICT so different? 'I've been working here since 2011 and every day is different. CM is a fascinating organization where you are constantly learning and being challenged. For someone who is eager to learn, this is the ideal environment. Every employee is given the opportunity to receive coaching, take on new responsibilities, inspire others and achieve great results together with the team.'
Charlotte Gouverneur, Functional Analyst and Scrum Master
'I have worked at CM my entire career. And it soon became clear that they continue to strive for innovation here', Charlotte adds. 'I first started working on international agreements for the membership management service and then grew into an insurance file manager. ICT was then looking for a business expert to help develop BaNCs, a new application for insurance. The implementation of agile working aroused my interest in staying at ICT. The opportunities and changes kept coming, which is why I am still here', she smiles.
'Thanks to the BaNCs application, we can manage the membership management of the optional insurance products. And make reimbursements to members of both insurances and additional benefits', Charlotte explains. 'Thanks to this application, members receive their payment in their account within a few days. Previously, this could easily take a month. I am very proud of the integration of the system, it is a victory for our team.'
'What does my job entail now? As a functional analyst, I am the crucial link between the business needs of our internal customer and the technical realization by the developers', Charlotte explains. 'And in my role as Scrum Master, I organize and lead all scrum ceremonies and coach the team so that the agreed deliverables are achieved.'
'We are increasingly busy aligning different applications, for example between the My CM app and BaNCs. Then you notice that each team has different priorities, and therefore different speeds. It is sometimes challenging to align that.'
Did you know that ... CM builds applications that are also used by other mutualities?

A job with impact, not all ICT jobs have that
Ina
Ina Colman, DevSecOps Engineer
'If an ICT colleague like Charlotte or a developer encounters a problem, I like to help them out', Ina explains. 'That is one part of my job. In addition, I am responsible, together with my colleagues, for maintaining and updating the CM software. I really enjoy optimizing that. In my spare time, I also supervise children at CoderDojo, where I help them program and code their own programs.'
'During such an optimization I can sometimes come across a number of errors. I investigate and resolve them, which means that I have learned a lot at the end of the ride. That knowledge helps me and my colleagues to prevent any future problems to be solved.'
'I have only been working at CM for a year and I have already come a long way. I have already gained a lot of knowledge and have mastered various tools, but not everything yet', says Ina. 'In addition, I would like to working with AWS. When I shared this with my manager, a goal was immediately set to make this happen. I look forward to learning more about this.'
'When I started at CM I felt very welcome and I had the impression that they saw a bright future for me. I still have that feeling today, they have a lot of confidence in me. When you start working at CM, you have you also have a social impact. You won't just find that in any other ICT job', beams Ina.
