What to do upon discharge from hospital?
As a patient you can leave the hospital whenever you want. If this happens against the doctor's advice, you must sign a statement.
In principle, the doctor decides on your length of stay. If you decide to leave early, you must sign a document stating that you are leaving at your own risk. If you leave the hospital after 2 p.m., the hospital may charge the day of departure as a day of stay .
You must definitely have the hospital complete the following documents (if they apply to you):
- certificate for the employer, trade union or school;
- certificate of disability intended for CM's consulting physician (only if you are an employee, unemployed or self-employed and remain incapacitated for work after dismissal). Make sure that this certificate is submitted correctly and on time. The certificate and the declaration period differ for employees and the unemployed and for the self-employed.
Recovery stay
Do you want to go to a recovery stay after you are discharged from the hospital? Then you can submit an application for this via the hospital's social services. Do this in time to avoid a long waiting time. More information can be found here.
