Breast prostheses
After your breast-conserving surgery or mastectomy, you may be considering a breast prosthesis. If there is increased fluid retention, you may need an arm stocking. There are refunds for that material.
Breast reconstruction
In certain cases, your surgeon will request prior permission from CM's consulting physician. If they approve, CM will settle the reimbursement directly with your hospital. You don't have to do anything yourself.
- Your breast was completely amputated because of a tumor. Or you want breast reconstruction after a mutilating (damaging) procedure. You can also receive a refund for some congenital conditions or deformities.
- In certain cases you need permission from the advising doctor.
- For breast reconstruction using your own tissue, excessive supplements can no longer be charged in hospitals that have an agreement with the Riziv .
- Did you have a reimbursable breast reconstruction? Then there is always a refund for the internal breast prosthesis.
For breast reconstruction (breast implant or breast tissue expander), a reimbursement between 376.78 and 976.63 euros is provided.
The refund is lower if you turn to a non-contracted bandagist.
The reimbursement depends on the type of implant.
External breast prosthesis
You do not need approval from the advising physician for an external breast prosthesis, with or without accessories.
Delivery CM:
- a prescription from your GP or medical specialist;
- the invoice from your bandagist.
The material is recognized by the Riziv.

The refund is lower if you turn to a non-contracted bandagist.
Reimbursement for a permanent breast prosthesis is only possible one year after the amputation. In the meantime, two temporary prostheses will be reimbursed.
A care kit for an adhesive denture consists of cleaning agents for the denture and the skin. A three- or six-monthly repayment is possible for this.
With a full breast prosthesis, a three-monthly reimbursement is possible for adhesive strips, the skin protector and the suspension system.
Arm stocking or glove | standard
If you suffer from lymphedema due to breast surgery, a standard arm stocking or glove can provide relief. You do not need approval from the advising physician.
Delivery CM:
- a prescription from the specialist;
- the bandagist's invoice.
- Lymphedema developed after a total or partial mastectomy in which your armpit nodes were also removed.
- For individually adapted material: you have permission from the advising doctor.

Arm stocking or glove | customization
If you suffer from lymphedema due to breast surgery, a custom-made arm stocking or glove can provide relief. You need prior permission.
Provide CM's consulting physician with:
- a prescription from the medical specialist;
- a report from the bandagist.
- Lymphedema developed after a total or partial mastectomy in which your armpit nodes were also removed.
- For individually adapted material: you have permission from the advising doctor.
