Disability and temporary living or working abroad
Do you live or work abroad and become incapacitated for work? Then other conditions apply.
You work in Belgium, but live or stay abroad temporarily
You live or are staying temporarily in:
- Your doctor in Belgium or your doctor in your country of residence completes the certificate of incapacity for work.
- You send the certificate to the advising doctor from CM.
- do you live in Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway? Then you must either have the nationality of an EU country or of one of these three countries. If this is not the case, you must file a tax return in Belgium.
- Do you live in Switzerland? Then you must have either Swiss nationality or that of an EU country. If this is not the case, you must file a tax return in Belgium.
You have two options:
- You declare your disability to the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV) in the Netherlands. The UWV checks your file and forwards it to CM's advising doctor.
- From the Netherlands: 0900 92 94 (paid)
- From Belgium: +31 88 898 20 01
- Your doctor in Belgium completes the certificate of disability. You send the certificate to CM's consulting physician .
Within two days, you must submit the certificate of incapacity for work completed by a local doctor to the competent social security institution. He or she will check your file and forward it to CM's advising doctor.
- Your doctor in Belgium or your doctor in your country of residence completes the certificate of incapacity for work.
- You send the certificate to CM's consulting physician .
You work abroad, but live or stay temporarily in Belgium
You are socially insured in:
- Your doctor in Belgium completes this form .
- You send this to the insurance institution in your country of work. He or she decides whether you are entitled to benefits.
Report your illness within two days and follow your employer's guidelines.
- Your doctor in Belgium completes this form .
- You immediately deliver it to CM.
- CM takes care of an additional medical check and the declaration to your foreign insurance institution.
