Quit smoking
CM members can count on a reimbursement for various smoking cessation products. Have you tried to quit smoking several times, but have not succeeded? With outside help you increase your chance of success.
Fortunately, there are plenty of incentives under the guise of refunds. Because CM, the Flemish government and health insurance make financial efforts to help you get rid of your addiction. The exact amount you will be reimbursed depends on your place of residence: Flanders, Brussels or Wallonia.
CM advantage
As a CM member you get an extra push if you want to quit smoking.
Flanders
Anyone living in Flanders can request annual reimbursement for smoking cessation guidance from the Flemish government.
Health insurance
Anyone who lives in Brussels or Wallonia can request reimbursement for smoking cessation counseling from their health insurance.
Refunds
As a CM member you get an extra boost if you want to quit smoking because you will receive a 50 percent refund for nicotine replacement smoking cessation products: patches, tablets, chewing gum, inhaler or mouth spray.
This refund is for CM-members who started a smoking cessation treatment with a certified tobaccoologist and attent at least two sessions. The refund has a maximum of 50 euros per treatment.
The Flemish government provides you with an annual reimbursement for four hours of individual guidance or twelve hours of group guidance .

allowance: 2.00 euros

allowance: 2.50 euros
you pay yourself: maximum 0.50 euros
*For young people up to and including 20 years of age, the amounts for persons with increased allowance apply.
The number of refunds is calculated using a points system .
Every calendar year you receive 48 points for reimbursement of smoking cessation counseling.
Each time you receive guidance, points are deducted :
- three points per fifteen minutes for individual guidance;
- one point per fifteen minutes for group guidance.
Per day you can spend a maximum of twelve points (1 hour) on individual guidance or a maximum of seven points (1 hour 45) on group guidance.
You can apply for reimbursement from your health insurance for eight sessions of smoking cessation counseling, spread over two calendar years.
- 30 euros for first session
- 20 euros for session two to eight
- 30 euros for each session when you are pregnant
- When purchasing, ask your pharmacist for a BVAC certificate or ask your recognized online pharmacist for an invoice showing the purchased smoking cessation products and the amount paid.
- Download the ' Tobaccoologist Declaration' certificate and have it completed by your tobaccologist.
- Place a yellow sticker on the certificate.
- Deliver the certificate, together with the BVAC certificates or invoice (also containing a yellow sticker) via the My CM app or a CM mailbox .
- CM will deposit the refund into your account.
You don't have to do anything yourself. The Flemish government arranges reimbursement directly with the tobaccoologist so that you only pay a limited contribution.
- For the refund you will receive:
- from a doctor: a 'normal' certificate for assistance provided with a specific code number;
- of a tobaccoologist: a specific document.
- Deliver this to CM.
- You bought the smoking cessation products from a pharmacist in Belgium or from an online pharmacy that is on the list of the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAGG) .
- You are a member of CM at the time of purchase.
- You have attended at least two sessions with a certified tobaccoologist .
- Purchases are made within three months of the first session with the tobaccologist.
Smoking cessation guidance is provided individually or in groups by a certified tobaccoologist . You can find these at www.tabakoloog.be .
Important : In Brussels and Wallonia
- you will also receive a refund for remote guidance;
- fees are free: the doctor or tobaccologist may charge any amount.

The Tobacco Stop Line (0800 111 00) is available every working day from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
